Parenthood and Singing
Oh, the joys of parenthood, so much to do, so little time, I know it doesn’t help but you never really get more time! Allow me to add another dimension to your already full day by saying, “sing to your child”. I know the countless reasons you fear or feel unsure about singing, but your child doesn’t care your level of expertise and they will love every note you utter. If they don’t then you may have a new issue, a child prodigy, which I think, I would fear as much, what a responsibility!
Here’s the reasoning; you will do so much more good than harm, create a bond with your child that is lasting, that is loving, collaborative with no need of scientific measure, beyond which singing is free and environmentally friendly. Well indeed you may need a bit of vocal support, musical ideas that are age appropriate or just a nudge to recall songs from your own heritage and memory. Let me say it will not be that hard a journey and can be done in your car or while getting your morning coffee. Open your mind voice and heart to this idea by learning a few songs. Start tonight while you put them to bed, or while you are feeding them breakfast, just to name a few of the opportunities to add this into your child’s education and musical memory.
Sing!
